Project Overview
Confiz collaborated with a leading tax automation and revenue systems organization in Pakistan to upgrade and modernize its tax infrastructure and streamline operations.
Our engagement involved staff augmentation across two critical areas: data analytics and application development. This partnership addressed persistent performance issues, eliminated data silos, and laid the foundation for a unified digital tax ecosystem powered by accurate, organization-wide insights.
The need
To keep pace with the evolving digital landscape, our client recognized the need to upgrade and digitize its operations. The client’s existing legacy applications were built on a monolithic architecture, making it increasingly difficult to support the growing demands of modern tax administration.
One of the major challenges they faced was fragmented data. Disconnected systems working in silos led to inconsistent, unreliable information that hindered informed decision-making. Ongoing performance issues further slowed down operations, creating bottlenecks in processes that required real-time responsiveness.
To address these challenges, our client sought a technology partner capable of modernizing its application ecosystem and building a centralized data warehouse to unify its data and enable accurate, organization-wide insights.
The Solution
Confiz, leveraging its expertise in enterprise data solutions and application modernization, partnered with the client to address its legacy system challenges and data fragmentation issues. Through a staff augmentation model, Confiz deployed two specialized teams—15 consultants for data engineering and 12 consultants for application development—to work in parallel across key workstreams.
The application development team focused on rebuilding outdated systems into scalable, web-based platforms using Java (Spring Boot), React, and Angular frameworks. This shift improved performance and laid the foundation for a modular, microservices-based architecture.
Simultaneously, the data team implemented an enterprise integrated data warehouse, combining data from disparate sources using Exadata, ODI/Talend, OBIEE, Power BI, and Oracle Database. A robust data governance framework further strengthened this to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trust in insights.
The success of this transformation led to significant improvements in performance, data reliability, and user experience, leading to an enterprise-wide rollout. Plans are underway to expand modernization efforts across additional systems, enhance data accessibility, and position our client for long-term digital agility and growth.
The Outcome
Smarter tax administration through modernization
By transforming its tax infrastructure, they improved taxpayer experience, strengthened compliance monitoring, and created a scalable foundation for future reforms.
Responsive web-based applications
Legacy monolithic systems were reengineered into scalable, microservices-based platforms, delivering improved performance, usability, and agility for end users.
Centralized access to validated data
A unified enterprise data warehouse eliminated data silos, ensuring consistent and accurate information across departments for smarter, faster decision-making.
Improved data accuracy and trust
Redundant and conflicting datasets were replaced with a single source of truth, enhancing data integrity and boosting stakeholder confidence.
Optimized system performance
Key performance bottlenecks were resolved, resulting in faster system response times and increased availability across core tax operations.
Ongoing digital transformation
The success of this initiative laid a strong foundation for continued progress, with Confiz remaining a key strategic partner in our client’s long-term digital journey.
